How do I Volunteer?

Because Destination ImagiNation is a not-for-profit organization, almost everything we do is organized and executed by our wonderful volunteers.

From organizing DI in a school, to managing a team, to planning and hosting a Tournament, to volunteering at a Tournament, to writing a Challenge, volunteers play a vital role in ensuring that Destination ImagiNation provides the best possible experience for all its participants.

Volunteer and make a difference!

If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact  Nyla Kimmett or your Regional Director (look under “pages” and “Colorado DI Regions” to find your Regional Directors contact information).

Roles within Destination ImagiNation

Team Members: School-aged participants ranging from kindergarten through college.

Team Managers: Adults age 18 and up who facilitate Destination ImagiNation teams. Many Managers are parents, teachers, or community members.

Membership Coordinators: Coordinators help form teams, coordinate and support Team Managers, register team memberships with Destination ImagiNation, register teams with the local and Affiliate (state) organizations, and communicate information to teams.

Volunteers: You name it. We need volunteers at all DI Tournaments. Everything from Score runners to working the sales tables and checking teams in. We’ll find a place for you!

Appraisers: Appraisers watch the teams’ Presentations at Destination ImagiNation Tournaments and award points for Challenge solutions. You will need to attend one training to become an appraiser but we promise you the time is worth it!

Regional and Affiliate Challenge Masters: Each Region and our Affiliate has very special people who coordinate the details of the challenges. Everything from finding the best appraisers for each position to making sure forms and awards are in place.

Regional Directors: Dedicated volunteers who coordinate Destination ImagiNation activities for a specific geographic area.

Affiliate Directors: Selfless individuals who share their time and talents to coordinate Destination ImagiNation activities for their state or country. They also liaise with other members of the DI community to help the program grow and flourish.

Ortrun Neidig - I know I am probably too late for this event but would love to volunteer in any capacity needed in the future. I have been a timer at an Optimist Brain Bowl and have given resume advice at a Jobing.com career fair recently as a volunteer and had great fun. Thank you!
